Neil O'Brien, MP for Harborough, Oadby & Wigston has been seeking reassurances over the future of the Post Office In Wigston Town Centre.
The Post Office is located within the Peacocks clothing store on Bell Street in Wigston, and is currently closed due to coronavirus restrictions for non-essential retail. Neil has been discussing the future of this important service with the Head Office of the Post Office as well as Oadby & Wigston Borough Council Officers.
Neil said, "I appreciate how vital this service is to people across Wigston and have been stressing the importance of this centrally to the Post Office. There have been questions over the future of Peacocks once the lockdown restrictions are lifted, though the current position is that Peacocks will be reopening once permitted, and will be continuing to trade which is very welcome news.
I've been assured that the Post Office are continuing to monitor the situation very closely should this situation change, and are aware of possible interest from other parties should this be necessary. I've asked to be kept informed of any developments, to ensure I'm able to update residents as soon as possible."
While the Town Centre Post Office is closed, people are able to use:
- Little Hill News & Post Office, 6 Launcestone Road, Wigston, LE18 2GL
- Oadby Post Office, 34 The Parade, Oadby, LE2 5BF
