The Wigston Meadowcourt by-election has been won by Liz Darling.
Liz Darling secured approximately 63% of the vote with 883 votes, with the Lib Dems on 377 and the Greens on 133.
Liz said, "I would like to thank everyone who has put their trust and faith in me, to represent you as your local Councillor in Wigston Meadowcourt. It is one of the honours of my life and I will work around the clock to ensure all of your voices and opinions are heard across the Council.
I want to work on the things that matter most to you. Please contact me (using the 'contact' button at the top of this page) with any issues or opinions you would like to share. Thank you again for your support.”

The Lib Dems have been in control of Oadby & Wigston Council for too long, with too little opposition. They no longer feel the need to listen to residents, and the Council Leader no longer listens to his own Councillors, as they said in their own leaflet recently.
It’s time for change.
Even with this victory, the Lib Dems still have 23 of 26 Councillors across Oadby & Wigston. But while this result doesn’t change the fact that they’re still in power, it shows them they cannot take residents for granted in the way they currently are.
