The Lib Dem Councillors are talking about the 'missing millions' which means they are now having to introduce car parking charges across the Borough to balance the books.
We're pleased to hear the Lib Dems are finally looking at their wasteful spending, and the millions that are now missing from their budget as a result. We've been calling for them to get a grip of their spending for years, so we welcome their belated interest. Between 2014/15 - 2019/20 (pre covid-19 spend in 2020/21) alone, they:
Wasted over £6,000,000 on
- Staff pay-outs, redundancy and grievance payments,
- Legal and tribunal costs associated with employment matters and
- Agency & temporary staff

Naturally, the Lib Dems are pointing fingers at everyone but themselves, but the above waste is happening on their watch. All of this from a Council with an annual budget of just £7/8m.
The Council say free parking costs them £170,000 per year.
Had they not wasted £6,000,000 of your money - they would have been able to provide free car parking for 35 years!
